plastic surgeon’s fees, type of anaesthesia, and the setting used for the
cosmetic surgery.
General - Patients, male and females,
often complain of droopy eyelids and dark circles and puffy bags under the eyes
which give the appearance of tiredness and sadness even when they feel rested
and relaxed. The eyelid cosmetic surgery addresses this issue by removing excess
skin, remodeling the fat bags and tightening the eyelid muscles. Removal of skin
from the upper lids is sometimes necessary to correct obstruction of the visual
field by the heavy skin. Upper eyelid muscle tightening (Ptosis correction) or
lower lid muscle tightening done through suspension stitches, is sometimes associated
with the standard Blepharoplasty procedure. Eyelid procedure can be done as an
isolated plastic surgery procedure or combined with other cosmetic surgery procedures
such as brow lift, face lift, cosmetic Laser resurfacing, rhinoplasty and others.
The surgery can be done under local anaesthesia as an ambulatory procedure or
under general anaesthetic in an operating suite. Incisions are well concealed
in the natural creases of the upper and lower lids. On occasion, approach through
the inside of the eyelid (Trans conjunctival blepharoplasty) is required. Laser
resurfacing or light chemical peel of the eyelid overlying skin could be combined
with the blepharoplasty cosmetic surgery as well.
